Prof. Dr. Max Fuchs

For more than 20 years, Max Fuchs has been director of the Remscheid Academy, central institute for cultural youth education of the Federal Republic of Germany and of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia. A graduate in mathematics, economics and education science, Fuchs initially taught these subjects at secondary school and then took up teaching posts in cultural and educational theory and education policy at the universities of Hamburg, Duisburg-Essen and Basle. Today he is an honorary professor of cultural work at the University of Duisburg-Essen, president of the German Cultural Council and a member of the German Commission for UNESCO. Max Fuchs has published numerous papers on the theory and practice of cultural, youth and education policy.
